Game of Life
On the plane ride home from Florida on Monday, my kids were all plugged into their videos games. They played for two hours straight, playing the same game over and over. Trying to accomplish the same jump, the same level, the same course.
I started thinking, why are video games to appealing?
In video games, we can take risks, make mistakes, try new things, experiment different techniques, and we don’t have to worry. There is no fear, because it is just a game.
What if we approached life like a gigantic video game? Would you make different choices if you knew it was no big deal if it didn’t work out? Would you go for it? Take risks for the fun of it? Because you knew, in the end, when the game was all over, we would all be in the same place.
Life IS a big playing field where we can either engage and participate or sit on the sidelines and watch.
If your fear of losing a game that can’t be lost keeps you from trying the next level, then you have cheated. Yourself. From the joy of trying and possibility of succeeding.
What are you holding yourself back from? I struggle with this too. I can talk myself out of a great idea. Second guess my abilities.
Although, I can’t think of one thing that I tried at, failed, and regretted. It is all part of the game. I’m getting ready for the next level, are you?
