Raw Chocolate Cashew Milk
If you were about to make my homemade cashew milk, you may just want to start here. Chocolate makes everything taste better, so why deprive yourself?
Don’t feel guilty, it has some of the highest sources of magnesium, chromium and zinc you can find.
I know you have heard a million times about how important antioxidants are, but did you know that raw cacao powder has one of the highest ORAC scores (a method of measuring the antioxidant capacity of different foods and supplements)? There are a dozen or so spices that surpass it, but, how much oregano and cloves can one person consume…seriously.
Here is a little glimpse into the magic of raw cacao powder:
ORAC scores for the Top 10 Antioxidants Foods (per 100 grams)
1) Raw cocoa powder* 95,500
2) Raw cacao nibs* 62,100
3) Roasted cocoa powder 26,000
4) Organic Goji Berries* 25,300
5) Acai Berries* 18,500
6) Dark Chocolate 13,120
7) Milk Chocolate 6,740
8) Prunes 5,770
9) Raisins 2,830
10) Blueberries 2,400

It is so simple to make. If you want pictures and a little tutorial, look at my regular homemade cashew milk post.
I like to drink mine plain, or throw some gluten free granola in it, or add a 1/2 frozen banana and a couple cubes of ice for a chocolate-banana smoothie. Yummy!!! But, honestly, I’m usually too lazy and just drink it straight up.
Raw Chocolate Cashew Milk
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 2-3 level tablespoons raw cacao powder (depending on taste. I like 3)
- 2 Tablespoons pure Maple Syrup
- 2 packet of Truvia (a stevia brand)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- water
- Soak your raw cashews in 4 cups of water for at least 4 hours (I throw mine in a container before I go to bed and make it in the morning)
- Drain and place raw cashews and 4 cups of fresh water in a good, high speed blender
- Add all ingredients and blend for a minute
- Drain through a fine sieve/strainer to remove any unnecessary pulp
- Put in a container and enjoy throughout the week! Shake before serving.

As a two time cancer dancer, I try to get as many antioxidants in my system as possible. THANK YOU for the information! I’m a big chocoholic, so will have to try this. Also, I’m hosting a Girl’s Night In soiree next month. I smell Chocolate Martinis. xo
Wow, two times? What? Tell me which post to read to catch up on that! I’m going to Vegas this weekend and need all the health I can get before I abuse my body with wine and late nights. Maybe if I bring my own cashew milk it will reverse the effects of vodka? xoxo
I haven’t written too much about it other than the “Up My Ass, In My Veins and Through My Fingers” post. If you Google that title, it’ll come up. :)
Yes two different types of cancer: bladder (found by total accident), and melanoma (found because I insisted on getting a full body check by a dermatologist, even though my GP said I was fine). Both were caught very early and surgery saved my life.
It’s my personal belief both were a direct result of my actions when I was younger. Smoke is the #1 cause of bladder cancer – and I worked at the strip clubs for 10 years, breathing a thick blanket of cigarette smoke for hours every night. I also grew up in Hawaii, and in the 70s and 80s, tanning was an Olympic event.
Your post is a reminder to us all that we DO have more control over our health than we think!
VEGAS! God, it’s been forever since I’ve been there! Not sure about reversing vodka effects, but I’d love to see you bust out a jar of cashew milk at dinner. Have a blast, girlie! xo
You are really lucky, melanoma is a killer. I go once a year and do a full body check. I, too, was a tanner – baby oil and all. What do you expect living in CA? I still have these ludicrous ideas that I may have melanoma in my butt crack or on my scalp. Hopefully my green smoothies and juicing will save me :) Bladder cancer! Well, that may require a full post on your part. Put that on your list. xo Lina
I already made and loved the regular cashew milk so I can’t wait to make this one, super yum!
Yippee! I’m so glad you tried it and liked it! I’m all out of my chocolate cashew milk and I am so sad. Need to make more! Let me know what you think of the chocolate when you make it :)
mmmm that looks delicious, uplifting too. Raw chocolate is a marvel but then it’s what you do with it that counts! I like this a lot. Thanks
Wow, you do like chocolate!
