Off to the Rainforest…AGAIN!

When Dalai Thomas and I went with a group to the Brazilian rainforest, I thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Boy, was I wrong!

Almost exactly a year later and I’m packing for another rainforest trip. I’m thinking malaria and yellow fever all over again!

Since the last trip, my oldest, Max, changed schools and his new middle school does an annual class trip to the Rainforest. (Apparently they didn’t know that Thailand and Australia were on my list to go to next) The good thing is that on this trip we will be visiting the Peruvian rainforest. I think monkeys, mosquitos and large spiders are still involved, but the sights will be new to us none-the-less.

So, Max and I have been getting ready to head off on our adventure. We have are antibiotics, malaria medicine, and various inoculations taken care of. We have collected all sorts of items that the kids there love (like jerseys and soccer cleats). And now, its packing time!

To say I’ve been a bit scattered is an understatement. Me going out of town requires a precision in planning only Colin Powell would understand. There are so many sitters and mom-rides involved, at any point a stranger could kidnap my child by merely offering them a lift to swim practice.

So, in a nut shell, that is what I’ve been working on. Getting our summer schedule organized for myself, then leaving after a week. I don’t even have it memorized yet!

Wish us good travel luck :) I will take lots of pictures for you. The place we are going is much more remote (no air-conditioning like last time) so no computer for me (jealous?).

While I’m gone, I’ve selected some old travel posts you may enjoy. Traveling always leads to good material…

What about you guys? Any exciting travel plans ahead for you?

It’s going to be fabulous! Take lots of pics and savor that one on one time w/handsome Max. Even after all the special sights and sounds of Brazil, the uninterrupted time with my A is still the best memory…ok, well that and the guy diving in the pitch black water after the cayman!

Yes, the guy diving for the cayman is something I will never forget. Then, for him to come up out of the water holding what looked like a lizard – priceless!

I’m headed on that trip next year! Let me know how it goes. I’m freaked out by the stories of the HUGE spiders, but I’ve talked to parents that have went and they insist the trip is amazing. Have fun!

I keep hearing it is going to be amazing! I don’t mind large spiders as long as they are no where near me :) You will hear all about it when I get back!

Good thing is that I don’t need to worry about malaria or yellow fever! Or?

I forgot you were doing that! It’s going to be a blast! Does Jenny get to go with you? I bet she can’t take off like she used to.
